Arantxa is a Venezuelan-Canadian abstract impressionist artist and art educator whose practice is rooted in painting, embroidery, and mixed media. Her work explores colour, texture, and emotional storytelling, blending expressive brushwork
with tactile elements to create pieces that feel both intimate and dynamic.
Arantxa’s artistic sensibility was shaped early by a deeply creative family environment. Her grandmother, a fashion designer, introduced her to textiles, craftsmanship, and art history, cultivating an appreciation for pattern, material,
and narrative. Equally influential was her father, a graphic designer, with whom she spent countless hours in the studio, observing the transformation of ideas into visual form. These formative experiences continue to inform her
balance between expressive intuition and thoughtful composition.
She is a graduate of Sheridan College’s Visual and Creative Arts Advanced Program, where she developed a strong foundation in visual language and interdisciplinary practice. Since graduating, Arantxa has maintained an active studio
practice, producing commissioned paintings, illustrations, and textile-based works, while continually expanding her exploration of materials and techniques.
Her work draws inspiration from the poetic colour sensibilities and expressive mark-making of Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, and Gustav Klimt. Echoes of their dynamic brushstrokes, layered surfaces, and ornamental patterns are reinterpreted
through a contemporary lens, resulting in compositions that invite both visual contemplation and emotional resonance.
Alongside her studio work, Arantxa is an art educator and currently leads preschool art programs at the St. Thomas Elgin Public Art Centre. Teaching remains an integral part of her practice, reinforcing her belief in art as a tool
for expression, connection, and personal growth. Her work is available through commissions and select art shops, and she continues to develop new bodies of work that bridge fine art, craft, and education.
